Our Director

Mr. Carlson was named Director of the Indian River Mosquito Control District in July of 2003, succeeding E. John Beidler, who was the District's director for 48 years.

About Us

The Indian River Mos­quito Con­trol Dis­trict was the first mos­quito abate­ment dis­trict cre­ated in the state of Florida, founded in 1926 by an act of the leg­is­la­ture.

Since that time, we have striven to de­velop the best in sci­en­tific mos­quito con­trol tech­niques while pro­tect­ing the en­vi­ron­ment and con­tain­ing costs to the tax­payers. We main­tain an active re­search program staffed by ex­pe­ri­enced en­to­mo­logists and en­vi­ron­mental spe­cial­ists, which is de­signed to de­velop the most ef­fect­ive pest and dis­ease re­duct­ion meth­od­ol­ogies while min­i­mizing en­vi­ron­mental im­pact.
